Not your comrade

2 min readNov 20, 2024

you
your email started with “Dear comrade,”
and I cannot bring myself to read a further word

who the fuck are you?
who the fuck are you to call me comrade?
who the fuck are you to categorise me in your ignorance?
who the fuck are you to assume that I am on your side?

don’t call me comrade
don’t you know that there are millions of ways to be
anti-capitalist
anti-imperialist
anti-oppression

don’t call me comrade
don’t you know that decolonisation does not advocate for
your dead One World world
don’t you know that your Western liberal socialism
is the current phase of regeneration recolonisation?

don’t call me comrade
with your simplistic worldview of binaries
erroneous on too many white supremacist counts
closet enlightened Europeans
bananas, coconuts, you believe you bleed white

don’t call me comrade
under your banner of inclusion and solidarity
when liberation for self-determination
does not subscribe to your singular ideal
selected between two white isms

don’t call me comrade
when you uphold colonial hegemony
and its unimaginative zombie tunnel vision
get it straight
decolonisation destroys the coloniser

don’t call me comrade
while your infantile grasp of ideologies celebrates
a cursory awareness beyond dominant extractivism
even perhaps that is all you can do
with your laundered indoctrinated mind

don’t call me comrade
when you have not so much as sought consent
you ask my bloody pronouns but
disrespect my agency in one fell swoop
you don’t have permission to refer to me at all

don’t call me fucking comrade
we do not see eye-to-eye
we do not stand shoulder-to-shoulder
we are not equals
i care not for your kind

call me your enemy (they/them)
fuck your community
